The Idea

Platatine was born from the romantic intuition of merging the plantain, a true treasure of tropical nature, with the best quality and craftsmanship of Italy. The meeting of these two iconic elements gave life to our line of superior chips, now renowned as a symbol of excellence and innovation, of discovery and cultural fusion. The overwhelming enthusiasm of consumers and industry professionals has led us to explore the secrets behind our most distinctive raw material. One aspect that struck us the most about the plantain is the set of beneficial properties for the body, making it one of the most important nutritional bases for populations in the tropical-equatorial belt.
In 2021, we decided to create a new family of products that included our pure plantain flour along with the flours of other raw materials we specialize in. Thus, we brought to life the Platatine Healthy Line with the aim of not only intercepting the most current and important nutrition trends but also offering an engaging journey of cultural and scientific discovery, enriched with unique flavors and aromas. A journey to be shared with family and friends, having fun creating delicious and health-supporting recipes.
Guided by these values, in October 2022, Platatine is thrilled and proud to present the new entry in the Healthy Line, a true star born once again from the fusion of the plantain with another Italian icon: Pasta. Mnemosine, the world’s first 100% plantain pasta, certified gluten-free, and crafted in purity, without the use of any binders. Just three ingredients: green plantain flour, water… and love.

Mnemosine and the Muse Pasta Shapes

It seemed like a strange yet happy coincidence that the botanical family to which the plantain belongs is the family of the Muses, the inspiring goddesses of the ancient world, so modern and relevant considering the historical period we live in. In the search for a name that could do justice to the combination of values and exclusivity that lives in this product, we chose to call it Mnemosine, the mother of the Muses according to Greek mythology.
However, the Muse Pasta Shapes project is not limited to 100% Plantain Pasta, which is personified by Mnemosine as the mother of a family of products. In addition to new formats in addition to the gnocchi and casereccia currently available, we are developing a line of unique pasta shapes that will see plantain flour merging with other high-quality flours to give life to a family of pastas with differentiated colors, flavors, and nutritional profiles: our Muses.
The graphic design and packaging material choice for Mnemosine are once again inspired by concepts of innovation, exclusivity, and attention to the individual. In particular, the chosen artistic style is that of Art Nouveau (Liberty in Italy), developed between the 19th and 20th centuries, with the aim of seeking something new that emphasizes free creation and individual craftsmanship as a unique alternative to mechanization and mass production of objects with little value.
Finally, the choice of material falls on paper, adding to Mnemosine the indispensable characteristics of sustainability and love for the Earth.
